Start Your Child’s Musical Journey Today

Infants will listen to calming, Solfege filled music inside of “Totigies” and enjoy simple music lessons inside of Playtime Prodigies.

This is a great age to introduce Solfege and our rhythm lessons like Sweet Beets. Babies at this stage can begin to play with the Deskbells, can play movement and imitation games with mom, and begin to prime their ears for a life filled with sound and music!

2 & 3 Year olds are ready to start playing 1 note studies inside Preschool Prodigies. This is also a great age for rhythm lessons, movement songs and our Solfege videos.

At this age, your child is at the perfect age to explore Pitch. Your child will develop Pitch Training abilities as they learn to identify notes and tunes. They will also build their ear training to hear a note without seeing it. Your child will begin basic skills worksheets, practice notes, colors & numbers, and learn to play their first instrument!

By age 4 and 5, most kids are playing 3-5 note melodies and working up to melodies featuring 8 or more notes.

These are two of the best years for ear training because kids are still sponging up the sounds and developing absolute pitch. They’re more physically capable of playing more difficult melodies than their younger selves.

Your child will be exposed to all the notes of the C Major Scale, a good introduction to chords and closely related keys and a solid foundation for rhythm and performance.

Kids beginning at age 6 or 7 can still develop a strong sense for pitch, but they’re more likely to develop relative pitch than absolute pitch.

Kids at this age are ready for more complex melodies, concepts, chords & patterns. Your child will clap & stomp in various time signatures. They will learn to identify notes in the treble clef as well as the grand staff with piano. They will also be introduced to chord symbols & learn to identify notes through association of color, sound, placement—standard notation and iconic notation.

Older students can work through more difficult General Music concepts or continue onto other instruments like the Recorder, the Ukulele or the Piano.

Students starting here will have the advantage of being able to learn the basics quickly. If your child has some musical experience, check out both our Primary & Performance series. We will dive into more difficult performances and practice sheet music in the treble clef. Your child will focus on learning more musical vocabulary, transition to black and white music, discuss chordal and harmonic relationships through intervals, cover basic I IV V analysis, ear-training, rhythmic dictations & more!

What’s unique about Prodigies?

Prodigies focuses on music theory, pitch training & playing a pitched instrument during your child’s critical period for auditory development.

We use colors, Solfege, numbers & hand-signs to make the musical notes accessible, memorable and fun.

By focusing on the language of music & music theory while kids are in this critical period for auditory development, Prodigies helps kids internalize the sound of the musical notes to make music almost second nature.

What skills will my child learn by using Prodigies?

As your kids progress through Prodigies, they will develop a variety of musical skills & talents.

  • Pitch development through songs, games & activities about the musical notes
  • Rhythmic development through fun call and response songs (like Sweet Beets)
  • Listening & aural comprehension skills with “Name that Note” & other listening games
  • Play their first instrument, either on the Deskbells, xylophone, piano, recorder or Ukulele
  • Cross-curriculum skills like patterning, sequencing, early math & hand-writing
  • Composition skills using composition activities

In addition to the above skills, learning music will help develop your child’s creativity, problem solving skills, perseverance & more.
