FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Is Prodigies?
Prodigies is a streaming music program for kids.
Whether you’re a parent at home with no musical background, or a music teacher with 20 years experience, Prodigies will help make teaching your kids music easier than ever.
Prodigies combines fun video lessons & songs with easy-to-play instruments (like bells, books, recorder & ukuleles).
Do I need an instrument?
You DO NOT need an instrument to start using Prodigies.
There are quick start playlists that are instrument free, as well as singing and rhythm lessons that don't require an instrument.
You can also sing and hand-sign through much of the general music curriculum and if you want a FREE instrument, check out our free Prodigies Bells app.
What instruments are taught?
Inside Prodigies you'll find general music lessons that can be followed with a xylophone, with bells, with a piano or with Boomwhackers.
Prodigies host Mr. Rob is often found playing the Chromanotes Deskbells in the lessons. These bells are colorful, they make a great visual on camera, and they're easy for kids to follow.
Additionally, there are Ukulele and Recorder series which require those instruments more specifically.
What ages does Prodigies cover?
Our Primer series Playtime Prodigies is designed for kids ages 2+.
Level 1 of our general music program, Prodigies Music, is designed for ages 3-6, but can abridged and followed by older beginners as well.
Level 2 is designed for ages 7+ as it covers more vocab and difficult concepts.
Finally, Ukulele and Recorder Prodigies both require a little more technical skill, and we see kids starting that around age 6-8.
We've had 7 month olds jamming out on webinars and 7th grade orchestras using our Solfege videos for rehearsal, so there's a little something for everyone inside Prodigies.
