Young Music, LLC (“Young Music,” “Prodigies,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides music education tools, instruments, and digital learning content for families, teachers, and schools.
This Student Data Privacy Statement explains how Prodigies handles student information when our services are used in educational settings.
This document supplements our Privacy Policy and focuses specifically on student data and classroom use.
Our Approach to Student Data
Prodigies is designed to be a low-data educational platform.
Unlike many learning management systems, Prodigies does not require extensive personal information about students in order to use the core curriculum.
Most Prodigies lessons can be used:
- without student accounts
- without collecting student personal information
- in a teacher-led classroom environment
Our goal is to minimize student data collection whenever possible.
Information We May Collect
In most cases, Prodigies collects little or no personal information from students.
However, depending on how the Services are used, limited information may be collected.
Teacher or School Accounts
Teachers or administrators may create accounts that include:
- name
- email address
- school or organization information
This information is used to provide access to curriculum resources and support.
Student Information (Limited)
If student information is collected, it is typically limited to:
- first name or nickname (optional)
- classroom progress within the platform
- interaction with lesson content
We do not require sensitive personal information such as:
- Social Security numbers
- government ID numbers
- precise location data
- health information
How Student Data Is Used
Any student-related information is used only to:
- provide educational content
- track lesson progress (when applicable)
- improve learning experiences
- support teachers and schools
Student data is not used for behavioral advertising.

Prodigies does not target advertising to students.

- Uscreen (video streaming platform)
- analytics providers to understand platform performance

COPPA Compliance
Prodigies is designed to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
When Prodigies is used in a classroom environment:
- schools or teachers may provide consent on behalf of parents when permitted by law
- we collect minimal personal information from children
- parents may request review or deletion of student information
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete the information.

Schools using Prodigies remain responsible for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Prodigies acts as a service provider supporting instructional use of music curriculum.
We process information only as necessary to provide educational services requested by teachers or schools.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary to:
- provide educational services
- support teachers and customers
- comply with legal obligations
When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
