Prodigies Music Lessons

800+ award-winning video lessons

For parents and music teachers around the world, Prodigies is the easiest way to teach children age 2-12 music. Your child will learn music literacy, music theory, pitch training & their first instrument(s) during the critical period for auditory development.

Sing, Sign, Play

Demystifying music lessons

Prodigies makes learning the language of music fun, easy & digestible. We do so by giving each note various names; for instance, the note C is: “C”, “Do”, “Red”, “1” & has it’s own hand-sign. With so many ways to hear & reference musical notes, children build confidence as they learn & internalize the musical alphabet.

Artboard 4-8

Our Philosophy

Early exposure to pitch

Develop a strong tonal center by focusing on the individual musical notes during a child’s formative years.

Brain-based vocabulary

Memorize the sound of the musical notes by learning them through hand-signs, numbers & colors.

Error proof learning

With color-coded instruments, videos & curriculum, children have more opportunities to get it right! We want to inspire confidence & positivity in these early, formative years.

“This program has revitalized my 30 year teaching career! Bravo! My students are engaged and learning at a rapid rate. I use this program with my xylophones & Boomwhackers with much success!

Video lessons allow me to float around the room to correct students hand positions and provide one on one instruction where needed. I am able to provide better feed back & it is saving my voice. I ❤️ this program!”

– Donna Tugby

“My youngest son developed perfect pitch before he was age 4 by using Mr. Rob’s lessons! He is 5 now , and loves to point what notes his Dad is playing on the guitar.

When he can’t think of the name of a note he wants to hear, he says stuff like “Mom, I want the song that starts with a G Note! Prodigies music lessons are amazing!”

– Jenni Lemerand

“This is the most incredible thing! Jaime is 5, mostly non verbal…. she has never put more than 2 syllables of anything together unprompted.

I cried when she sang me Solfege and played her bells on the way to bed one night. She has been watching your video for about a month. Thank you for the magical thing that your program has done for her!

– Jacki Walsh

“I think you’ll be pleased to know that every class my students ask me, “Do we get to watch crazy Mr. Roberto today?” They all love “crazy Mr. Roberto”, and they are all learning a lot of music and having a lot of fun doing it!

Thanks very much for making such great material available. And thank you for opening up some new teaching avenues for me. I’m 50 years old, I have a degree in music, and I’ve been teaching piano since I was 15, but this curriculum has made me a better teacher. Thank you.”

With Prodigies

Your Kids Will

Develop an amazing sense for music and…

Sing IN TUNE

Kids LOVE to sing! Prodigies makes it easy to develop their voice by singing simple songs about the musical notes.

LEARN AN INSTRUMENT

Whether you’re using desk bells, a xylophone, a piano, a ukulele, a recorder or your voice, Prodigies has you covered!

HAND-SIGN w/ SOLFEGE

By combining Solfège (Do Re Mi) with easy to remember hand-signs, kids connect the abstract sounds of the musical notes to concrete & memorable motions.

DEVELOP PITCH

Our goal is to give young children as many chances to interact with musical notes as possible. In order to develop pitch, repetition and consistency are key. This is especially important before age 7. Our color-coded materials make for tons of practice with isolated pitch.

DEVELOP RHYTHM

It’s time for everyone’s favorite: Sweet Beets! Rhythm practice can be as simple as clapping in time, but we make it fun. We introduce rhythm first with silly fruits & veggies, then advance to Ta and Ti Ti (Kodaly), and up through standard rhythmic subdivisions (1e+a 2e+a).

COMPOSE & IMPROV

Using colorful instruments and music makes it easy to get kids performing, composing and improvising in a very real way. Each lesson includes performance instruction and opportunities for learners to compose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Busy parents wanna know…

For quick wins that are low pressure for you and your kids, open up Prodigies and work though our quick start playlists or our long play videos. This can take as little as 4 minutes for a video or as long as 40 minutes.

If you’re ready for step-by-step lesson plans, check out Prodigies Music Level 1A, grab the corresponding workbook PDF (or textbook from our shop) and use the 45 minute weekly lesson plans provided.

Using the weekly lesson plans, you’ll be able to stay consistent with music practice each week. This can be something to look forward to every week, and will make working through Prodigies a successful routine for you and your young musicians.

For quick streaming and all video lessons, you can easily stream through our app Prodigies on iOS, AppleTV, Android, AndroidTV, Roku4k, and fireTV.

Our web platform at Prodigies.com contains all the same videos, plus additional features like sheet music, printable resources and curriculum activities.

You don’t NEED an instrument to start. There are instrument free lessons to begin, instrument free playlists and there’s even a digital instrument on our website.

That said, having an instrument will help your child’s skills and engagement significantly. This can be Chromanotes Deskbells (or Prodigies Deskbells when they’re in stock), any piano with color-coded stickers, or any kind of xylophone or C Major instrument.

There are also lessons specific to ukulele and recorder, and naturally you’ll want those instruments for these technique heavy courses.

Then you’re about to have a lot of fun learning music!

No, but seriously… it’s easy, it’s fun and you can TOTALLY facilitate this program with your kids. We start out with easy echo songs about numbers, colors and solfege (do re mi) which make it super easy for anyone to follow.

Prodigies focuses on the fundamentals around pitch and rhythm using iconic notation, which means it won’t require you to read music. We focus largely on the notes and the chords — stuff most 7-12 year olds learn in piano lessons — we just do it with colors and hand-signs and bells that make it easier for younger age groups.

The videos and listening activities are fun and effective for kids throughout early childhood.

At 1 year old, they’ll start tapping a steady beat and singing “Do” and “Hello C.”

By age 3, they’ll be hand-signing with Solfege and ready for the activities and worksheets.

By age 5, they’ll be recalling notes, playing melodies, practicing chords and crushing aural comprehension games.

By age 7, they’ll be playing more complex melodies, performing on their instrument and singing tunefully with confidence.

While every child’s musical journey is different, there is a wealth of evidence that shows that pitch exposure and a music education before age 6 can do some incredible things for the brain (like unlocking the skills associated with perfect pitch).

That’s why we encourage folks to start early, take breaks if you need to, and keep revisiting music lessons throughout your child’s development. Our own kids have gone through phases with the program and that’s 100% okay!

Think of Prodigies like Netflix for educational music lessons. There are some programs that everyone will enjoy, some programs specifically for infants and toddlers and then some more advanced material as well.

Our platform currently only supports 1 profile per account, so while you can see your progress and where you left off (and even favorite videos and games), there isn’t a way to track multiple kids in one account.

To help with tracking individual progress, we have printable checklists & calendars that you can use for each kid to track their musical journey.

A lot of our core lessons focus on hand-signing with Solfege and then performing that melody on bells or xylophone. Siblings can alternate playing a single instrument with doing the hand-signs, or they can split up the bells to work together. There are performance tracks with multiple parts and instruments so you can easily make your own ensemble.

Music Educators Ask…

Level 1 of our General Music curriculum is almost entirely in C Major (where Fixed Do and Movable Do are the same). So that’s nice!!

In Level 2, we have both Fixed and Movable Do variations of the core curriculum and performance tracks. While we believe in the teachability of absolute pitch through Fixed Do, we also understand that Movable Do is more widely adopted by classroom teachers and music educators for a variety of reasons.

From our experience, children who grow up with Prodigies prefer to stay in the Fixed Do system, where kids who are just coming into music during elementary school are better served by Movable Do.

Furthermore, as the program progresses into Level 2, we lean into singing about the scale degrees more and more to help distinguish between Movable and Fixed concepts.

The earlier elements of our curriculum around patterns, numbers, letters, phonics and music are largely inspired by Head Start Standards and guidelines set forth by NAEYC.

The elementary level curriculum inside Prodigies is more aligned with NAfME Music Standards and guidelines.

While Prodigies Lifetime gives teachers TONS of material to tackle the standards, Prodigies Academy is our true standards-aligned digital curriculum for K-5. There you can filter, search and sort by state standards, and even make your own lessons to fill any gaps specific to your program.

If you have mallet instruments, percussion, recorders, ukuleles, Boomwhackers, or any combination of those, you’re going to LOVVVVVEEEE working with Prodigies.

You can jump into the lessons or songs featuring those instruments, or pull up performance tracks that feature multiple instruments to get your ensemble playing together.

By having your kids follow our colorful and fun-to-play sheet music style, you’ll have more freedom to save your voice and float around the room assisting and assessing students one on one.

Um yeaa!!!

We work closely with Rhythm Band Instruments and Chromanotes and we do our best to match the colors we use to the colors they use.

If you find KidsPlay colored instruments (which feature a blue instead of a teal for the note G), these are NOT the same colors. That said, they’re reasonably close and we’ve seen a lot of families and classrooms adjust to make it work.

The colorful and upbeat nature of Mr. Rob & Prodigies often leaves older kids and elementary school teachers wondering… “is this legit enough for 4th & 5th graders.”

And the answer is YES!! Inside the general music curriculum, we have lessons and curriculum covering Mi Sol La, C Major songs, Intervals in C Major, Chords in multiple keys, melodies from Gershwin, Beethoven & more.

Prodigies Lifetime unlocks our streaming video curriculum and PDF library, as well as a few bonus games and resources.

This does NOT include student accounts, Google Classroom integration, or digital interactions more typical of an LMS.

These additional hybrid learning features ARE available from our sister company, Prodigies Academy.

If you’re a K-5 music educator who enjoys Prodigies Lifetime, we would be happy to give you 30 Days Free to Prodigies Academy and we’ll even apply whatever money you spend on Prodigies Lifetime to your school’s first year of Academy access.

Our Members Are Getting AMAZING Results

Even MORE Amazing Performances from Prodigies Members

I am blown away with how far my 5 and 3 year olds have come by using Prodigies for the last year. Music is such a joy in our home now! They have perfect pitch and can play many of the songs on multiple instruments. They can even pick out the notes on their favorite non-prodigies song and play them! I love the solid music foundation that this has given them.

— Katie W.

We use Prodigies at our school and love it! We enjoy our lifetime membership that let’s us prep for multiple classes with ease! We love how Prodigies is making quality music education accessible for our generation!

Video lessons allow me to float around the room to correct students hand positions and provide one on one instruction where needed. I am able to provide better feed back & it is saving my voice. I ❤️ this program!”

– Stephanie, Noteability Music

In less than a month I knew I had to get lifetime membership. I’m going to have another baby and my son loved the YouTube videos immediately so much we tried out membership and quickly I realized this is the best program I’ve ever seen for music training!

Not only does it teach *in a Fun way!* pitch recognition (which most programs don’t), but sight singing, notation, rhythm, the whole package! In a fun and logical progression, then add the fact that there are piano, ukelele, and recorder lessons and you just can’t beat the value, price, and convenience.

We are lifetime members and my son wants to have the prodigies bells on his birthday cake! We love the program and the teachers and just know you will too!

– Priscilla C

My daughter loves to sing, and I wanted to introduce her to the basics of music. Private music lessons don’t fit into our budget right now, so when I heard about Preschool Prodigies, I thought I would give it a try. I have been so impressed with the online lessons. They are basic enough that a young child can understand and follow, and they are so much fun that she really enjoys sitting down and doing her lesson(s). The lessons are clearly well-developed and professionally done. Mr. Rob not only has a depth of knowledge about music, but also a wisdom about how to share this with young children. Many music teachers have one or the other of these traits, but not both. I am very impressed with the Preschool Prodigies program and so glad that I discovered it!

– Jenny

We started Prodigies one year ago, and have absolutely loved it. I played piano for 12 years, but did not have the understanding of music that I now have since going through this program with my children. Both my children sing in key, can name notes they hear, and have an understanding of chords.

The format is fun and engaging, and the color coding and logical progression of lessons makes understanding easy. There is so much to this program that it truly grows with the kids

We are almost done with level 1 and we can go back and do the program with piano. There is a basic piano intro series that they are expanding, and then there is recorder and ukulele. These are all instruments we will be playing together, and it is wonderful knowing this one curriculum can carry us through all these instruments. We are having fun and learning fundamentals of music! The kids ask for “Mr. Rob!”

My children have learned so much from this program! After they complete a lesson they love to teach me and practice what they learned. The colors and repetition is so engaging to them!! I’m so happy I found this during COVID. It helped my kids enjoy music and learn the notes!

– C Persaud

My two sons have been using Prodigies for several years in our homeschool. They fell in love with the colorful and approachable bells right away, and the engaging video instruction made it easy for them to become familiar with notes, letter names, solfeg, and even chords. I’m so happy with the musical foundation Prodigies has given my kids. They are 11 and 9 now and have begun to learn piano, recorder, and ukulele. This program is fantastic!

– Lauren J

Prodigies is constantly developing fantastic musical resources. The program is already completely worth what I paid so it is always an delightful surprise to recommend. Thank you, Mr. Rob and team, for all that you are doing to bring a high degree of music education to our youngest students!

As a 33 y veteran teacher, I was totally amazed at the engaging lessons and how my students responded so positively to the videos. Now, every student in my school, from 3 yo to 5th grade, has the bell app on their school iPad which they bring to every music class. Thank you all so very much!!!

The most recent addition is a book filled with classical songs that simplifies while keeping true to compositions anywhere from Bach and Beethoven to Broadway musicals. I’m excited to try out the new songs and duets!

– Marcy Sharman

This program deserves the highest of ratings! Rob, Sam and the entire prodigies team have really done their research and they’ve changed the way we interact with music in our home. Our 3 year old can pick out the c scale solfege on an unmarked piano and when my husband plays a note, he can give the note name and the solfege name. He is also singing more and experimenting more and more with his own musical melodies! Our one year old daughter can keep time with sweet beets and she loves to play and dance along with all the prodigies videos. I also teach classes using prodigies as my curriculum, and the kids and parents both absolutely love it! My husband teaches elementary school and uses prodigies regularly in his classroom. Thank you so much for such an amazing way to teach and learn music. I cannot wait to see what else this company does to change the world of music education.

– Jessica

I am a Lifetime Member and appreciate the thoughtfulness of Prodigies for offering it as a Lifetime package. If you need to do the installment plans it is well worth the money to invest in Prodigies. It is such a versatile program for everyone, from Classrooms to individual Families. I personally have used it for both. As a music teacher, I use it daily in my classrooms and the materials offered are being continually added to. I am certain that there will not be a “musical stone ” unturned when they complete the program.! Currently, there is enough musical training to give your child/students several years of learning. Prodigies is engaging ,colorful and musically sound. I looked for a program for many years that incorporated everything Prodigies uses and when I discovered them it was “everything I had been looking for”. Besides, everyone loves Mr.Rob.

– Tricia

I bought the lifetime membership as a homeschool with spaced out kids and a growing family. My youngest was an infant at the time so I was grateful for the lifetime option so I could still have it for him when he got old enough. His brother loves it, and now he does too. Honestly, I’m not very consistent with this or most things. I think if I had gone the subscription option I would have canceled long time ago just because I didn’t use it all the time. But I have no regrets. We still use it. My kids love it. They cheer every time they hear the intro music and realize what I just put on. And I can tell they’re learning. I was initially drawn to the program because I liked how they taught simple music theory. I didn’t even realize that teaching them perfect pitch was a possibility. That alone is worth it. But I love love love how they keep adding things. Between adding teaching guides to make it more easy for me, to adding new instrument classes, the constant lifetime access to everything is so worth it for us!

– Rachael Awraben

I bought the lifetime membership 2 years ago when my oldest was 3 years old. We still consistently use it until today and I am so thankful and glad that I got it. My son is now 5 and he is excited whenever he plays bells and I am so proud of how well he does. As a piano teacher, I am so glad that my son already has a good foundation and knowledge for music. If we had gone the traditional route, he wouldn’t be ready to play piano until at least another year or 2 and we would have missed out on all this music teaching!

– Kate

What a great way to engage kids with short videos tailored to their age. Followed with workbooks to help drive home the learning. My students LOVE this program.

– Mike

This is the best program I have been able to find for my kiddos. Prodigies Music is very engaging. My kids absolutely love this program.

– Christine

This is a must for young homeschoolers. My children and I adore the Prodigies music program. Fun, engaging, and affordable! Can’t be beat.

– Courtney

Top notch program. Just attended our district general music teachers’ meeting today and spread the news about this wonderful resource. I use it more than our own adopted music series. We’ve purchased the Lifetime bundle and I know it’s been the best investment for our program to date. Engaging, visually and aurally stimulating, soundly based, and it’s authors are continually improving and adding videos to expand the curriculum. Looking forward to another year exploring the endless opportunities Prodigies offers to build our students into great independent musicians.

– Mark Camacho

After 2 years of using this program, I finally took the plunge and purchased the Lifetime membership. I wish I had done it sooner! As a homeschool mom of 4 and a violinist, I wanted my children to experience a fun, engaging, and fruitful music program. I’ve definitely found it! There is content appropriate for many age levels, it involves no effort on my part (though I love jumping in too), AND there is more to come! It will grow with my children for many more years.

I couldn’t be more happy I’ve been using Prodigies in my group classes as well with my piano students in their initiation stage, the program you have is amazing! The kids love it and I have more students in my studio since I use your materials Thank you Mr. Rob! Greetings from Mexico!

– Mayita Brown

Prodigies has been a wonderful compliment to my K-3 music classroom. It allows the children to organically transfer what they sing to notation or to an instrument . The kids love the many choices of songs. Baby Shark was a home run! Thank you for providing a tool that is PERFECT!

I started off with just a year membership but soon realized I wanted to upgrade. I love that this is really an interdisciplinary program. I can use my autistic son’s love of music and lead him into working on handwriting, patterning, math, etc. Our favorite times are our Sweet Beats jam sessions: 4 kids (ages 1,2,6,&9) and 2 adults having great fun and learning rhythm.

The lifetime membership is an incredible value for our homeschooling family. We really want to imbue the love of music in our children by introducing music lessons in a way that brings delight. This program fits the bill! My preschool-aged children love Mr. Rob’s energy and the colorful animation keeps them thoroughly engaged. The playground is constantly being improved and expanded, too. We are happy with our purchase.

We adore this program and are so glad we became lifetime members. I constantly recommend Preschool Prodigies to all of my friends. My boys are 3 and 4 and beg for “more Mr. Rob” every day. As parents who are musicians, it was important for us to find a music program that could help our kids fall in love with music and that we could begin at a very young age. This program has met both of those criteria and surpassed our expectations. Not only do the children love Mr. Rob, but he and his wife give excellent customer service and really put their heart and soul into what they do. We look forward to watching our children continue to blossom and find success with this program as they grow.

Wow! This program is amazing and my kids who are 6, 4 and 2 absolutely love it! They are learning so much and always want it on. As a musician myself this is such a great all rounded package with the videos downloadable sheets and lesson plans for parents covering so much about music and theory in a really fun way. Can’t believe my two year old actually sings solfege – I remember doing it at music college! So much fun and really pleased with the lifetime membership as I know the cost of music lessons myself and this can grow with them and they can access it whenever we want. Thank you preschool prodigies! And as my kids now say to everyone cya later cya later cya cya later!!!
